COVID-19 Letter to Members

To All Members of Painters District Council #14,

Our state, nation, and the globe are facing an unprecedented moment with respect to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The situation as it relates to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is evolving quickly. Painters District Council #14 is working to implement measures to help protect the health of our members, signatory contractors, employees, and staff. As we work through the effects of this situation, we would like to provide the following information:

In an effort to respond to potential exposure risks, the decision has been made to close Painters District Council #14 beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020  until Monday, April 20, 2020.  The Union Office building will be closed to anyone other than direct office personnel. If these closures extend past this date, all members will be notified.  Apprentices are to report to work for their assigned contractor on their school days during this time. I want to insure you that measures are being taken to protect our health benefits, pensions and ensure you that they will be protected well into the future. We are also, working along with the other Building Trades and contractors to adjust and adapt job sites to increase work opportunities and safety during these difficult times. I realize that the uncertainty of the current climate can be overwhelming at times, but rest assured that we will get through this and any additional problems we may face.

If any contractors or jobsite locations are closed, members are advised to contact their Business Representative immediately.  You are also advised to file for Unemployment Insurance Benefits immediately.  I have attached to most recent links below provided by IDES regarding eligibility for Unemployment Benefits due to COVID-19. Also links to Centers for Disease Control and Illinois Department of Public Health, I advise you to stay up to date with these websites.

We will continue to actively monitor the COVID-19 outbreak situation and keep you up to date with any new information.

One of our core principles is to ensure the health and safety of our members, signatory contractors, employees, staff, and their families. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep you and those around you safe and healthy.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Business Representatives or me.

Fraternally,
John Spiros Jr.
